 "Pro Dishcloth" knitting Lace by Marieta Iosifidou

 


A flat, easy and quick knitted (in 3 knitting hours) , openwork dishcloth. 

Super Idea for Birthday and Christmas Handmade Gift.


The piece is started with long tail cast on, then made a set-up row and four rows with seed stitch in the area between stitch markers, while on the outer edge an I-cord edging is formed.

Continue with knitting the basic lace pattern (sts multiple of 3).

The lace area of the pattern completed in 2 rows and knitted the same stitch, in the RS and in the WS.

Completed the dishcloth with the repeat for starting 4 rows (R1-R4) .  

Materials:

·        Yarn:  any cotton, weight Worsted –  65gr

·        Gauge: 20sts x 28r - 4”x4”/ 10x10cm

·        Needles: 4,5mm / US7

·        2 stitch markers 


 Abbreviations

·        R: row

·        RS: Right side

·        WS: wrong side

·        K : knit

·        P : purl

·        k2tog: knit 2 stitches together

·        Yo: yarn over

·        Slstpw: slip stitch purlwise

·        St/s: Stitch/stitches

·        Wyif: with yarn in front

·        Pm : put marker

Sm: slip marker

 

Measurements: 20 cm x 20cm after blocking

 

Notes

Used sts multiple of 3 + (5sts +5sts  for the border & I cord edge).

The lace stitch pattern completed in 2rows (R5 & R6).

 


 Starting

·     Cast on 31sts with long tail way. 

·     Set up row:

k4,p1, pm, k21,pm, p1,k2,wyif,2slsts pw.

 

·     R1  (RS) : k4, 1slst pw,sm, *p1, k1,p1* rep to sm, bring yarn in back side, 1slst pw, k2, wyif, 2slsts pw

·     R2 (WS) : k4,p1,sm, *p1,k1,p1* rep to sm,  p1,k2,wyif, 2slsts pw

·     R3  (RS) : as R1

·     R4 (WS) : as R2

Lace pattern area :

·     R5  (RS) : k4 , 1slst pw,sm, *k1, Yo, k2tog* x 7, sm, 1slst pw, k2, 2slsts pw

·     R6  (WS) : k4,p1, bring yarn in back ,sm, *k1, Yo, k2tog* x 7, sm, p1,k2, wyif, 2slsts pw

Repeat R5 & R6 until you have the desire length.

Repeat R1-R4 once for the ended edge.

Bind off all stitches with Knit 2 stitches together through the Back Loop (k2tog tbl)

  New pattern, for new dishcloth  in the color of the blooming spring almond tree. 

      An easy knitting even for beginners in knitting. follow the written instructions faithfully

      and the result will justify you. 

  

   Notes: For the center of the pattern, need stitches multiple of 3 + (3 +3+1) .

               For the edge need, 6 stitches (2 for i-cord edge, 3sts,1slst).

                    Materials:

·        Yarn:  Cotton worsted  –  65gr

·        Gauge:20sts x 28r - 4”x4”/ 10x10cm

·        Needles: 4,5mm / US7

·        2 stitch markers

Notes:

·        For the pattern stitch need stitches multiples of 3 +3 +3+1 example:

·        In Carreaux Dishcloth used stitches [3 x8 =24 +3+3+1 total 31sts for the pattern area]

·        In the pattern – slip stitches (slst) knitted as purlwise
