Cozy Christmas mug by Marieta Iosifidou

Materials

• 40grams of DK knitting yarn in red color

• 25gram of DK knitting yarn in white color

• 25gram of DK knitting yarn in green color

• 1 button

Needles

1pair 4.00mm knitting needles (UK 8, US 6)

Measurements

width perimetric 25cm x hight 8 cm

Notes

• When you change the color of the yarn, have attention to knit gently and soft, do not pull the yarn in the back side of the work.

• If you need a smaller version, you can follow the same pattern but using thinner yarn or smaller n.needles 3,5mm needles. (UK.10,US3)

Instructions

Using green knitting yarn, cast on 40sts.

proceed as follow table:

R1 (rs) k all

R2 (ws) k

R3 (rs) k all

R4 (ws) p

R5 (rs) k

R6 (ws)p all

R7 (rs) k all

R8 (ws) p al

R9 (rs) k all

R10 (ws) p

R11 (rs) k

R12 (ws) p

R 13 (rs) k

R 14 (ws) p

R 15 (rs) k

R 16 (ws) p

R 17 (rs) k

R 18 (ws) p

R 19 (rs) p

Finish the row 19 and bind off all sts. Proceed as follow instructions:

Button edge

With the green knitting yarn, and the right side (RS), pick up and knit 15 evenly along one short edge. Knit 1 row.
Continue GS.
Decrease one stitch, at the 1st stitch of every row until 7 sts remind.
Cast off.

Buttonhole edge

Work other short edge in same way until 13 sts rem.
Next row: to make buttonhole, K2tog,k2, bind off 3 stitches,K2 ,K2tog.-8sts in the end of the row
Next row: k 4 sts, cast on 2,k 4 sts. – 10sts in the end of the row
Next row: K2tog,k all sts to the end of row.-9sts in the end of the row
Next row: K2tog, k all sts to the end of row.-8sts in the end of the row
Next row: K2tog,.k all sts to the end of row.-7sts in the end of the row
Bind off.

Sew the button (to fix in the buttonhole) at the opposite end to the buttonhole.
