Flat knitting way
For this pattern, needs stitches multiple of 4
Abbreviations:
· R: row
· Κ: knit
· P: purl
Slst: slip stitch
· St: stitch (es)
· RS: right side
· WS: wrong side
Ch: chain
Sc: single crochet
Ingredients:
· Yarn :
For the pumpkin àyou can use any weight of yarn you have in your stash. Better weight yarn (DK,Aran,Bulky, Chunky)
For the leaf and stem à DK yarn
· Needles : it depends of the yarn you will use
· hook : n.3,5mm
stuffing pillow
· Scissors, sewing needle
Instructions
Cast on 40sts :(4 Χ 10=40sts) ,if you want bigger pumkin, cast on more stitches but multiple stitches of (4)
R1 – RS: *2k – 2p* repeat from * to end of the row, p1.
R2 – WS: *2k – 2p* repeat from * to end of the row, p1.
Repeat R1 & R2 until have the desire length (18-22rows).
Cut the yarn leaving a long tail.
With a sew needle, thread in and out of the edges to gather up the sides, pull tight to close the hole and stitch to fasten, tying it to the tail at the beginning of the work if this helps.
Turn the pumpkin inside out and stuff.
Take the needle through to the opposite end of the pumpkin and again, thread the yarn around the top to gather the sides and close the pumpkin.
Instructions to make the stalk:
Row 1: Cast on 9 chains
Row 2: 1sc into the 2nd ch from the hook. 1sc in every st of next 8 chains.
Row 3-6: ch 1, 8 sc
Fold in half and stitch the two ends together.
Make a magic ring and make *1sc,2hdc,1sc,1slst* x5 times in the magic ring. Join the last slst with the starting. Don’t cut the yarn.
Continue as make, 21 chains.
Turn your work and make 1sc into the 2nd ch from the hook 1sc. Continue and make 1sc in every chain to the last ch .
With this way, will have a natural twist, which is what pumpkin stalks do!
End with a slip into the stalk.
Sew the green part on one side, which will be the top of the pumpkin.
• Sew or glue a button on the other side.
