Start Knitting

Welcome to the Knitting Yarnland... I live in Marieta's Yarnland, 38 years ...My friend Decitsa Matejievic  invited me, when we were students  ... Allow me after all these years, you present you my  knitting-country.
In this country that I named «yarnland  " everything is soft, warm, cheerful, creative and relaxing. Smell delicious hot coffee, cinnamon buns, homemade sour cherry and basil in a pot. Its inhabitants are usually feminine (not excluding men who do the best trip in that country), all ages , all religions and all nationalities. People discuss the knitting language (in next post I will present to you). The knitting language, doesn’t have grammar of synonyms… Is easy and happily.
It is a country where you do not need a visa. The entrance visa is given by the positive mood for creating and knitting. A prerequisite for meeting the beauties of the country, traveling from the side to side, is a standard (and is happy as the journey begins).to go.

First of all : You need a nice box or bag (in the early stages because then you will not fit the place ...) which means you put all the magic items ,that will support you and lead you in the creative and cheerful world of knitting .

To see what we put into our knitting box:

1st: Yarn
The variety that exists in the market in every city and every "yarn store" is great. How to select the yarn that you need?
It depended on , what is it that you want to knit? Beanie, shawl, jacket, bag, gloves, scarves, winter or summer? If winter will have your yarn is pointing to the wool. If the summer floss should have cotton basis .There and composite yarns, i.e. those having a percentage impurity e.g. acrylic yarn 50% wool, 50% acrylic.
the yarn of the photo is from the "Shades of Light" Angelica Batsis.

There are 100% acrylic yarn, acrylic yarn today are good quality. There are of course the case of silk, baboo etc.. Used for special creations.

Any yarn you choose, you should give weight to the good quality, because these will create something, we will do our work, effort and a bit of our soul. Consider a yarn after a while it stretched, etc. will be flocking. Would be disappointing.
Except  the quality of yarn, you should calculate how many skeins of yarn you need ... So what you should see
• The thickness of the yarn thin, medium, etc.-ply.
• The weight of each skein, indicate on yarn label, reported in oz/grams.
• How many meters of yarn has every skein. Indicate on  yarn labels, reported in yard/meters.
(in the next post, I will present “how to read yarn labels”)

Great role playing (not to say the largest), the price of yarn. The wool yarn is more expensive than acrylic or composite.
People who working in yarn- shops, will help you choose the right yarn according to what you want to knit and your budget. If you ask them, they will guide you.

My personal opinion: In the early stages of learning knitting, I suggest you choose a good quality acrylic yarn because: it is economical, it is warm and soft and very good for beginners in knitting. Of course it would be good to buy a small amount of yarn, so as to finish your first knitted. An alternative could be wool which is more expensive. When you get the first experience with the area of knitting ,you'll be able to knit with other yarns.

2nd: Needles
You took the yarn, now you have to knit. You will knitting  with needles .
Also a wide variety awaits us on the needles
• The classic straight needles and the circular. Separation in shape. (on circular needles are those that have a fixed cable and those you can change depending on what length)
• Separation as the material from which it is made: metal, aluminum, the baboo,, wood needles.
• There are and the “double pointed knitting needles” , for knitting socks, caps, hats, gloves.
The circular needles have the advantage of not slipping in and out points of the weave, you also enable you (because there is a long cable that connects the needles) you can knit a long knitted (eg. Shawl or a blanket).
A question of  new knitters, is what size needles to use for knitting. This also marked on the yarn label.
The filaments (those are knitting lace) usually use very fine needles, eg n.2,5 or 3.  for medium thick yarn, needles are usually n.3-5 and thicker yarn n.5-8. There are of course very thick needle n.8-15 or greater used for very thick yarn e.g. for bags or scarves especially.
The circular needles usually come from n.2,5 to 10.

My personal opinion: For a new knitter would recommend aluminum needles, circular. Points and thread slip better and is easier to get points. The evolution of knitting as a second choice I would say the wooden circular needles changing cable.
