 Red mug with cozies buttons 

I knitted this mug with inspiration of the Val Pierce book from Search Press, "20 knitted Mug Hugs". I received that book in my travelling box, in Ravelry community. I hope to be source for inspiration, for new happily projects.

Materials

• 1 ball red knitting yarn 
• 2 lilac small buttons
• 2 yellow small buttons
• 2 pink small buttons
• 2 blue light small buttons
• 1 plain white button.

Needles

• 1pair 4.00mm knitting needles 

Instruction

• Cast on 7stiches
• Knit 2 rows
• Continue in garter stitch
• Increase 1 stitch at each first stitch of the row . Until you have 18 stitches.

Proceed in garter stitch and continue pattern as follow:

• R1 knit
• R2 Knit
• Continue in garter stitch
• Increase 1 stitch at each end of next row until 18 stiches .
• Proceed in GS and block pattern as follows
• R1: knit
• R2: K3,P6,K9
• R3-8:rep rows 1 & 2 three times
• Rows 9-11 knit
• Row12: knit to last 9sts,P6,K3
• Row 13-18: rep rows 11 and 12 , 3 times
• Row 19-20 knit
• Rows 1-20 twice, then rep rows 1-10 once.
• Continue in GS and shape buttonhole end:
• Dec 1st at each and of next and every alt row until 11sts on needles.
• Next row: knit knitting into yrn of previous row.
• Continue to dec as before until 7 sts rem.
• Knit 2 rows
• Cast off.

To make up
Work in all ends neatly. Sew buttons into the center of  the squares, as shown in the photograph . Sew the white bigger button on to the end of the mug hug to correspond with the buttonhole at the other end.
